it's boba time
There’s always room for dessert. After our donkatsu meal, we headed over to this place because my friend really wanted “milk fluff” aka “shaved snow”.
milk fluff w/ condensed milk topped with blackberries and mochi
I don’t know why I had low expectations going in here because it was pretty fricken good. The “fluff” is basically a block of ice...

wako donkatsu
My foodie friend brought me here. She came here once and ordered the “cheese donkatsu” only to find out that it was literally JUST cheese (although she later told me that the waiter specifically told her that it was JUST cheese and she refused to believe it..lol), therefore we decided to come back so she can actually eat the meat.

The chicken and pork were pretty...

Mexican food! I live near many Mexican restaurants and my goal is to try them all!
carne asada nachos
Look at that! Just look at that! Do I even need to describe how good this was!? Fresh. Crispy. Cheesy. Meaty.
Enough said.

combo house
I was craving jajangmyun and my friend recommended this place to me. It’s located within a grocery store, alongside an array of random shops (hair salon, clothing store, doctor’s clinic, etc.) Don’t expect this place to be a cute little restaurant. It’s almost like a bar, where you walk up, sit down on a stool, and order a drink or in this case korean food. Oh, and the...

This place serves gourmet waffle sandwiches. Why didn’t anyone else think of this earlier? Or perhaps it’s been around and I’ve just been living under a rock.
green eggs and ham Tucked inside the waffle were ham, egg, cheddar cheese, and pesto sauce. The pesto sauce really complemented well with the other ingredients. The waffle in replacement of bread was nice because the...

cafe maji
This cute little cafe is so hidden you almost can’t find it on google maps. Thanks to a friend who posted a picture of her at this place that I even knew about it.
french vanilla latte The coffee was rich, sweet, and delicious. Foamy on top and smooth and silky underneath. It really warmed my soul. The little brown dot next to it is a brownie, but it tasted horrendous.
mocha latte My...

oo-kook korean bbq
Celebrated mother’s day at oo-kook kbbq (because my mom loves meat). Our usual ayce kbbq place is Road to Seoul, but we decided to try something new, and this place supposedly have better quality meat.
It’s $25 per person the whole day. This is their ayce menu: http://s3-media1.ak.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/vqcndXobtNFMYt-cy8hpWQ/l.jpg

lemonade
Clean, cute, and (sorta) cafeteria style. The neat thing about this place is you get to sample almost everything.
Herb grilled chicken, mozzarella, basil pesto, arugula, ciabatta Ho hum. Extremely ordinary and very forgettable. Anyone can make this sandwich..and it costs $9. Can you say “not worth it”? Yea.
Watermelon rosemary sigh..so I originally ordered Blood Orange Lemonade,...

umami cateseen
Met up with my food buddy and decided to give umami cateseen a try since we’re both big fans of the umami burger. The restaurant is pretty spacious with A LOT of servers.
shrimp burger with yuzu-kosho I ordered the shrimp burger. I loved that I can actually see the shrimp and that it wasn’t all chopped up into a million pieces and smushed into a patty. I also absolutely adored that...

the luggage room
A friend invited some of us to eat here. I was pretty excited because I actually have been wanting to eat pizza. There were 7 of us and we ordered 5 different pizzas to share.
avocado festival Toppings: avocado, tomatoes, basil, lemon zest I thought this tasted like a margherita pizza and I did not taste the lemon zest at all, but that’s not saying they didn’t put lemon zest because...

Had brunch with my 2 lovelies here for a belated birthday celebration and an extremely overdue christmas gift exchange. The atmosphere was nice and everything on the menu looked pretty appetizing.
green omelette So after a long contemplation on whether I should get the chocolate chip waffles or this, I opted for this because on the menu it says the omellete includes: Asparagus, Broccoli,...

Was roaming around the San Gabriel Square plaza and came across a dumpling restaurant that served the extra large XLB that comes with a straw for you to suck out all the soup. My sis was really excited. I was too until I noticed on the menu that the only “flavor” they have for the extra large XLB is the one with crab (which i really don’t like). Nevertheless, our family went to...

the peach cafe
Friendly (for humans and dogs!), cozy, and good food. This is the kind of place where you feel like you’re family and where everyone calls you “sweetheart” and “dear.”
pesto omelette This had tomatoes, onions, pesto, and cheddar cheese. It was very savory and delicious. I did wish there was bacon or ham in it to enhance the flavors even more (which I’m sure...

factory tea bar
Hidden gem! Seriously, I don’t know how many people know about this place..maybe I’m just out of the loop or something but wow! Love! This neat little place is spacious and super comfortable to just sit around (although I must say that is only true if you’re lucky to get the couches).
factory milk tea, passionfruit/peach green tea The milk tea was alright, it’s a little...

pizza place ca.
My friend and I discovered this restaurant when we wanted to try a dessert place beside it. The dessert place failed us the first time because it didn’t open when it was suppose to. So we thought we’d plan another day to eat around that area.
The fact that the restaurant name has pizza in it, you’d think i’d try the pizza. Well, I was going to but i saw their lunch...

shanghai village
Dinner date with my mommy! She found this place through newspapers I believe and we went to try it.
shanghai stir fried noodles mmMm..this came out piping hot with steam and aroma diffusing into the air. The noodles were chewy, the napa cabbage gave this dish a nice crunch, the spinach made me feel healthy (haha), and the pork was soft. I love that this place made this dish with way less oil...

d'odici
My friend and I was searching for dessert places to eat and found this cute little place. I absolutely loved the decor but the menu was a little bit “hmmmm.” They only serve one type of dessert which is souffle cheesecake, similar to the japanese cheesecake. They do have coffee, tea, and sodas. My friend and I were debating to get the apple cake or the blueberry cake and eventually...
wurstkuche
I think it took me at least a year to finally eat here. I was really excited to wait in line and was debating if I should order the rattlesnake/rabbit hot dog. I wanted to try it, but as I was born in the year of the rabbit, it made me sad to have to eat my kind (lol). This place was so hardcore they have like security or bodyguard type people standing around and a dj blasting music.

pappa rich
Yes, it’s another one of those coffee bun places. I’m a little sad that I wasn’t able to try it fresh and as you can see below, the bun had deflated.
Even though this bun was like a day old, after reheating it and taking a bite of it, I knew it’d be perfect like the one from Korea if it was fresh. It was soft, aromatic, and the buttery center really does make all the...

chado tea room
Wanted to catch up with a friend and she found this place which I thought was super cute! The little shop has a very cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere with a display of teapots and a wall of cylindrical containers filled with tea leaves.
The afternoon tea tier is $18 per person and if you want to share then that’s an additional $3 per person (this means it’s around $21 per person to...

supreme dragon
i mentioned about a dumpling place called dragon mark (一條龍) located in monterey park area before. my friend told me that supreme dragon is the original one. [so basically, the chinese name is the same but the english name is different] thus i wanted to try the original to see if it’s better.

o' my buns
Ever since I went to Korea and had the roti bread, I knew I would be sad to come back to America and know I can’t walk 5 minutes and get one for ~$1.80. I believe there’s a place called Pappa Rich in pasadena that sells the same thing, but for $3. I’m not baller enough to spend $3 on bread.
Surprisingly, there’s a roti bread place that’s across from my workplace. How...
bun bun teahouse
brand new place that opened in our area for about a week…it replaced genki living. when we went in, it wasnt really opened, but the owner lady was nice and said she can take our orders. this place serves taiwanese style burgers.

younique cafe
i believe my parents found this place and decided that we should try it. i must admit their decor was pretty nice except for some of the chairs..they were quite cumbersome. the service was not very good, half the waiters/waitresses didnt know what was going on. the food was below average.
lemon pepper chicken pasta this was pretty boring and very peppery. i was imagining it to be a creamy lemon...
KOREA special!
ok, remember how i said between spicy cold noodles and regular cold noodles, i preferred the regular ones? yea, well..going to korea totally changed my mind and i actually think the one i had in LA was a different type of spicy cold noodle.
this place is in Myeong Dong and is suppose to be pretty famous for their cold noodles.
spicy cold noodles it’s reallllyy good! the spicy flavor...

was looking for a place to eat in rowland heights and remembered my friend telling me to try earthen. they supposedly have realllyy good green onion pancake and the verdict is….
green onion pancake it’s really thin and crispy/flaky. i’m used to eating the thicker kinds but this was good too. there’s definitely a little more flavor in this pancake than in some other...

ma dang gook soo
remember when i said i was craving for korean cold noodles after having it at Wi Spa (the wi spa post)? my friend said i should try spicy cold noodles cuz she knows i like spicy foods.
spicy cold noodles it was a hot day so this cold noodle dish was just right. i thought it had the perfect level of spiciness and the noodles were thin and chewy, almost bouncy (if that makes any sense). however,...
geisha house
hmm..what can i say about this place? ah yes, it’s the Olive Garden of japanese food. it really is - there’s absolutely nothing authentic about this place. plus, we were seated in a verrry crappy area… i read online that they have excellent ambiance, but um..not for us.

deciding what to eat is soooo hard when you’re not craving anything. so this was another one of those random place i tried. when u step inside, it feels like you’re in a warehouse with tables, chairs, and a tv. not that it matters, cuz it’s all about the food.
shrimp and scallop taco i thought the tacos were pretty average tasting. however, the shrimps and scallops were...
hong kong special!
*sigh* so i was randomly going through my food pictures from hong kong and saw a pic. i took of dou fu fa (tofu w/ syrup) and am now totally wanting to pour a bowl into my mouth.
dou fu fa seriously, the best dou fu fa i ever ate is in HK. (sorry, i dont have the name of this particular place i ate from, but pretty much any dou fu fa place in HK is good). the dou fu is suuper smooth unlike the...

again, i’m watching food network’s “best thing i ever ate” and this episode is “best thing i ever ate on a stick.” it was adam’s (food network person) turn, and his choice was l.a. farm’s trio of lollipops. and no, they’re not candy…they’re ice cream! i finally got to try them on my sis’s bday (yea, she watched that episode...
dessert boutique — haus
after our ever so lovely day at wi spa, we wanted to go somewhere trendy/cute in ktown. luckily enough, we found a magazine at wi spa and it gave us our next destination, haus. being a kpop lover, i was super excited. the moment i stepped in, it felt like i was in a kdrama. kpop was playing and the waiters/waitresses were definitely eye candy (their uniform is like the kdrama coffee prince).

my sister suggested to go here cuz we had no idea where to eat and her friend gave this place 5 stars on yelp. (i know, i dont trust yelp..which is why i gotta taste it for myself)

akasaka
my sister’s friend brought her here first. then she decided to take us back for my dad’s bday dinner. this place was located almost in the middle of nowhere. it was small, cute, and cozy. when i opened the menu, my eyes widen a little cuz of the price… a chirashi bowl alone was $32. however, everything changed when i saw the waitress bringing the items to our table.

mama lu's dumpling house
i’m on the search for the “best of” many things, one of which is Xiao Long Bao. i’ve eaten many XLBs from different restaurants. and yes, Din Tai Fung’s XLBs are seriously delicious, but they’re sooooo expensive and they’re tiny. i dont think they’re worth the price. thus, mama lu’s dumpling house! altho this place isnt the best in the world,...
wi spa
the wi spa is a korean sauna/bath house/spa type of thing. it’s really nice and relaxing there, but this blog is about food..so let’s get to it.

zelo is pretty good. pricey for pizza, but i guess the ingredients they use somewhat deserve that price. i mean, they’re not dominos or pizza hut, so i shouldnt expect the price to be like $10 for a whole pie. in fact, 3 slices from zelo cost over $10.
corn pizza the corn pizza was really good, it had a smoky and sweet flavor. the unique toppings of corn and roasted red onions were...
rm seafood
so i found this place through the travel channel this time. it was a special 1 hour program about las vegas and this restaurant or actually this dessert totally caught my attention. it’s called the rick’s tasting game. the object of the game: to guess the flavors of the ice creams! if you get all 16 correct, it’s FREE!
this was sooo much fun! they present the ice cream along...

pictures sure are deceiving.
delicious food corner
i guess i can say, going to delicious food corner kinda sparked this whole food blog thing. yelpers raved about how good this place was and it got a lot stars. it supposedly is the “best hong kong style food” you can find around the San Gabriel Valley area. i thot to myself “the best HK food?? and I dont know about it??” must try!
so i went there last night. and uh…....
i cant trust yelp
so i finally, and i mean FINALLY decided to start a food blog. why? because yelping for “good restaurants” have failed me too many times. some places that have 4 or 5 stars definitely deserves less and other places with 1 or 2 star(s) should get more. my point is, i cant trust yelp anymore.
a little about me for you to understand where my palate is coming from…
i’m an...
